Course Description

Topic: Queer Theory

Review of foundational works in queer theory, as they emerge and diverge from feminist theory. Readings will likely include selections from Michel Foucault’s History of Sexuality, Judith Butler’s Gender Trouble, Eve Kosof­sky Sedgwick’s Epistemology of the Closet, J. Jack Halber­stam’s Female Masculinity, Jose Estaben Munoz’s Dis­identifications, and C. Riley Snorton’s Black on Both Sides as well as secondary read­ings. This will be a reading- and writing-intensive course.
